The world’s first short message had been sent on December 3, 1992 from a PC to mobile phone on the video phone GSM network in the United Kingdom. The message was “Merry Christmas”.

The total text messages sent from around the world reaches 178.8 billion. This is according to VerySign, a leading provider of Internet infrastructure services. The figure is equivalent to 26 messages per person on the planet.

The World Pyro Olympics is postponed due to safety issues of the current firing venue. The Executive Committee decided to stage the event on January 2010. The fireworks companies from participating countries have also agreed to move the event. The event is originally scheduled on November 21, 28, December 5, 12 and 19.

World Pyro Olympics is an annual competition of fireworks companies from all over the world.

Larissa Ramos of Brazil was crowned as Miss Earth 2009 vesting other 80 delegates from various countries and territories for the Miss Earth 2009 title. The coronation night was held at an eco-village in Boracay resort, Philippines. Larissa is 20 years old and a Biology student. She is the 9th Miss Earth winner since the pageant started in 2001.
