We have become an avid fan of this “Wifi thing” nowadays. And why not, it enables us to get connected on the Internet wireless using Wifi–enabled gadgets such as laptops, mobile phones and more. But for now, let’s forget Wifi and turns our head to the future of microwave communication technology known as the WiMAX.WiMAX

WiMAX is a short term for Interoperability for Microwave Access. Devices using WiMAX technology can cause more power than devices running on Wifi. WiMAX signal can reach up to several miles like the range of a mobile phone tower signal.

Once WiMAX will be fully developed and implemented, user can now go anywhere in the city or even drive across the country and still enjoy Internet services.

The speed of WiMAX technology is expected to be somewhat like in cellphone digital service. However, WiMAX has a slower speed compared to Wifi. The WiMAX speed varies on the distance of the user from the location of the station antenna, local condition and the bandwidth used by the local carrier.

According to Professor Robert Morrow, the availability of WiMAX service is expected to be within the next two to five years from now and many major cities in the United will be one of the first to enjoy this new technology.
