iPod has become more advanced as time goes by. New features were added to give users more options to enjoy this popular innovation. Before we will take a look at iPod in the future, let’s go back and trace the history of iPod and its features.

iPod Touch

October 23, 2001
Apple introduced its first generation of iPod. iPod was the model name and has 5 to 10 GB storage. A firewire is used for connecting computers iPod to personal computers. This model used mechanical scroll wheel.

July 17, 2002
Apple released the second generation of iPod which had a storage capacity of 10-20 GB. This model had a touch sensitive wheel and used firewire connection.

April 28,  2003
The third generation of iPod came out in the market. Storage capacity were 15, 20, 30 and 40 GB. It featured a back lite screen, dock connection and touch sensitive buttons.

January 06, 2004
This date marked the official released of the first generation of iPod mini. It ha a 4 GB storage capacity. This model features “click wheel” buttons and has 5 different colors to choose from.

July 19, 2004
Apple introduced the fourth generation of iPod. It had a bigger capacity which reaches up to 20, 30, 40 and 60 GB. Just like the first generation of iPod mini, it used click wheel button.

January 11, 2005
This date, Apple released the first generation of IPod Shuffle. It had a storage capacity of 512 MB and 1 GB and used flash memory.

February 22, 2005
The second generation of IPod mini came out and had a storage capacity of 4 GB. It utilized firewire connection and more improved than the previous version. The battery performs last longer and features bright color variants.

September 7, 2005
This is the released date of the first generation of iPod Nano. The Storage capacity were 1, 2 and 4 GB. It featured slimmer design and used flash memory instead of hard disk for storage.

October 12, 2005.
The fifth generation of IPod was released on this date. The storage reached 30, 60 and 80 GB. On September 2006, this model was revised and featured a brighter display. It also had an excellent music search feature.

September 12, 2006.
This time, the second generation of iPod came in. The storage capacity was 1GB. It is made of an aluminum case and a built-in clip.

The generation of iPod still continues as Apple is planning to release new models in the market.
