Google has bagged the prestigious Prince of Asturias Prize for Communication and Humanities in a ceremony held in Madrid, Spain. The Goggle bagged the award and vested other 24 candidates including the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Magnum, a photo agency.

The prize for Asturias award is worth 50,000 Euros roughly around 64,000 US Dollars. The Prince of Asturias award is held every year. The Prince of Asturias Foundation gives recognition to people or organization who have great contribution in the field of scientific and technical research, social science, international understanding and sports, arts, letters and communication and humanities.
Last year, Science and Nature Magazine won Asturias award for communication and Humanities category.
This year’s Prince of Asturias Award is now open and the deadline for proposing candidates is set on March 13, 2008.
