Color blindness is defined as the condition where there is a lack of visual perception of a person. It can affect both men and women regardless of age.
The major parts of the eye are the retina, cornea, iris and the lens. They serve major functions such as viewing of images. So, in the case that there is an absent of contact between the brain and major parts of the eyes, this may result to what we call “color blindness”. Color blinded person is unable to distinguish the difference between colors. This condition may cause from brain, nerve and eye damage or even exposure to harmful substances.
There are certain types of blindness and these are the partial blindness, complete blindness and night blindness. Partial blindness is a term used in a condition where in a person can only see little light and shadows. Total blindness, on the other hand, is a term used to describe a condition where a person experiences a lack of perception to light and shadows. Night blindness is the inability to see in darkness and may cause from birth, certain injury and even malnutrition.
There are three color receptors, the green, blue and red. Color blindness may also result if there is lacking in any of these colors.
