Facebook, the world’s leading social networking site today has recently announced that the website now reached 500 million users from around the world.

In the same development, Facebook is aiming to reach 1 billion members, matching the reach of search engine giant Google. Facebook Co-founder and CEO Mark Elliot Zuckerber is expecting that Facebook could grow to about 1 billion active users despite the stiff competition on the Internet. Mark Zuckerberg becomes the world’s youngest billionaire at age 23 according to a Forbes estimate.

Facebook was originally intended for Harvard students. Later on, it was opened to other universities and to the world.
